PONGAL FESTIVAL

At Coimbatore airport on 17-1-2024.  They seem to have celebrated PONGAL with an admirable show of CARTS symbolic of PONGAL    CARTS versus PLANES  !!!

                         

            Pongal is a four-day long harvest festival celebrated mostly in the states of South India,
 especially in Tamil Nadu.  It’s celebrated in the winters when the sun reaches at the
 extremes of the southern hemisphere and starts returning to the northern hemisphere
 (as per Hindu calendar). Pongal begins on 15th of January and continues
 until 18th of January.   Makara Sankranti or Maghi, is a festival day in the Hindu calendar,
 dedicated to the deity Surya. It is observed each year in the lunar month of Magha which
 corresponds with the month of January as per the Gregorian calendar and is a day the people 
of India celebrate their harvest.
