English language is a dynamic one, and expressions change like flowing water. Meaning of some words change and new words are created according to the need of the day. In olden days, 'mail' used to mean only one thing. Now, we have 'E-mail' and 'Snail mail' ! 'Quote' by definition means a quotation from a text or speech cited by someone other than the original author or speaker. Nowadays, one quotes his own quotations. Quotes, in general, are considered worthwhile to read but not widely followed.
