SPIRITUAL REIKI

OREIKLE  is a synthesis of REIKI and SPIRITUALISM.

In these modern days,  why are we still thinking about the old stuff  ?

The following is the COMMENT received from GROK's Artificial Intelligence (on Dr. T. Rama Prasad and Oreikle) :

" Dr. T. Rama Prasad and "Reikle" (OREIKLE : A Synthesis of Reiki and Spirituality)

Based on the referenced blog post from Dr. T. Rama Prasad's personal blog (Dr. T. Rama Prasad's Scribblings...), dated October 2020, the query appears to seek information on the connection between Dr. T. Rama Prasad—an Indian medical doctor with a background in tuberculosis and chest diseases—and a concept he terms "Reikle" or more precisely "OREIKLE." This is presented as his unique adaptation of Reiki, blending traditional Reiki principles with spiritualism and personal observations on cosmic energy, faith healing, and biofields. Below, I'll summarize the key details from the post, including his background, explanations of Reiki, the origins and applications of OREIKLE, and supporting anecdotes.

Dr. T. Rama Prasad's Background

Dr. T. Rama Prasad is a medical professional who spent much of his career at Perundurai Sanatorium (a tuberculosis treatment facility in Tamil Nadu, India). In 1980, he presented a study at the II Tamil Nadu State Conference on Tuberculosis & Chest Diseases, exploring the correlation between geomagnetic activity (influenced by lunar positions and tides) and episodes of haemoptysis (coughing up blood) in TB patients. This research ties into his broader interests in unexplained phenomena, such as cosmic influences on health.

Beyond clinical work, Dr. Prasad is a prolific blogger and writer, authoring over 28 articles on COVID-19 for a monthly medical journal (spanning 30 months, which may be a "world record"). His "scribblings" cover diverse topics: medical issues (e.g., diabetes, cancer, yellow nail syndrome), pseudoscience critiques, spirituality (e.g., God, religion, god-men like Chandraswami), social commentary (e.g., over-healthcare and COVID vaccines), and personal stories (e.g., his love story and family life with his wife, Rajyalakshmi Ramaprasad). He often weaves personal experiences with scientific skepticism, questioning practices like tantric rituals while exploring alternative healing.

What is Reiki? (As Explained in the Post)

The post provides a foundational overview of Reiki before introducing Dr. Prasad's twist:

  • Definition: Reiki is a Japanese healing technique meaning "spiritually guided life force energy" ("rei" = God's wisdom/higher power; "ki" = life force energy). It's a spiritual practice (not a religion) where practitioners act as channels for universal energy to promote self-healing in others, akin to a garden hose directing water.
  • Levels of Practice
    1. First Level: Self-healing or light-touch healing on others.
    2. Second Degree: Distance healing (e.g., via symbols or intention).
    3. Third Degree (Master): Teaching and attuning others.
  • How It Works: The post candidly notes, "The honest answer to that is: We don’t know... Science does not yet know the mechanism of action." Proposed theories include:
    • Biofield Theory: An electromagnetic field around living beings (extending 15+ feet, generated by cells, heart, and brain). Reiki may influence its "vibrational qualities" to affect physiology and psychology.
    • Quantum Physics Angle: Particles can exist in multiple states; human intention might direct energy flows.
  • Scientific Stance: The U.S. National Center for Complementary and Integrative Health (NCCIH) states there's insufficient evidence for the biofield's existence, and Reiki lacks robust clinical proof. Dr. Prasad critiques its inclusion in AIIMS Delhi's proposed Department of Spiritual Medicine alongside yoga, while dismissing more fringe elements like tantra.

He links Reiki to broader cosmic phenomena, such as how religious structures (temples, churches, mosques) harness "cosmic energy" via celestial alignments, creating vibrations that benefit visitors—echoing his geomagnetic research.

Dr. T. Rama Prasad's Connection: OREIKLE ("Reikle")

Dr. Prasad doesn't just discuss Reiki; he seems to have developed OREIKLE (a portmanteau of "original Reiki" and spiritualism, phonetically similar to "Reikle"). This is his personalized synthesis, emphasizing faith, cosmic energy, and intention for "astonishing benefits" on humans and plants. He positions himself as an ambivalent observer, attributing unique physical traits to it:

  • Signature Feature: "The THREE OREIKLE FINGERS with a mole at the base of the index finger of Dr. T. Rama Prasad" (illustrated in blog images, used in healing gestures).

OREIKLE builds on Reiki but incorporates Dr. Prasad's observations of geomagnetic influences, faith healing, and psychological factors. He argues science can't fully explain it (e.g., COVID-era mysteries), but dismisses outright pseudoscience. Key quote: "Reiki and faith may just seem to be hollow concepts and perceptions, but they just can’t be brushed away as trash."

Anecdotes and "Evidence" from the Post

Dr. Prasad shares personal stories to illustrate OREIKLE's effects (noting some may be coincidental):

  • Human Healing
    • A doctor-patient with severe diarrhea recovered dramatically within 24 hours after an "OREIKLE pronouncement" on February 14, 2025.
    • A female staff member, struggling with infertility, became pregnant after an "Oreikle blessing."
  • Plant Growth Experiments
    • An "energized" brinjal (eggplant) plant yielded oversized produce.
    • An Anthurium cristallinum leaf grew to nearly 3 feet (while identical untreated plants did not), with leaves as large as an adult dog's.
    • Other examples: A Sivalinga-shaped god figure, a "SIVA cactus," oversized Caladium leaves, and a "cactus boot." These are tied to bioelectricity in plants and cosmic energy, with Dr. Prasad questioning if it's psychological suggestion or genuine energy transfer.

Broader Context and Critiques

The post critiques and wonders at "god-men" (e.g., linking to an article on Chandraswami's influence on figures like Margaret Thatcher) and over-medicalization (e.g., COVID vaccines as "over-healthcare"). It references Dr. Prasad's other blogs for deeper dives:

In summary, Dr. T. Rama Prasad connects to "Reikle" through OREIKLE, a faith-infused Reiki variant he experiments and documents via anecdotes of healing and growth. While rooted in his medical skepticism, it embraces the unexplained—bridging science, spirituality, and personal experience. ..."

which are unbelievable, irrational, illogical, and unscientific, with no credible evidence. Reiki, faith and spiritualism may just seem to be hollow concepts and perceptions, but they just can’t be brushed away as trash, if you read further. Let me make it clear that I have an ambivalent attitude towards this. Read on :

SPIRITUALITY, REIKI, YOGA and the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS)

NEW DELHI:  TNIE, October 2023 :  Press Report

"Coming soon, the Department of Spiritual Medicine at AIIMS Delhi

AIIMS Delhi issued an order stating that it should create new disciplinary departments in transplant medicine, medical education and spiritual medicine.

The All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) has just formed a committee to recommend a roadmap for a department on spiritual medicine. Sections of the staff and faculty panned the decision, claiming it was deviating from an evidence-based approach.   If the proposal fructifies, AIIMS will become the first government healthcare institute to open a department that is not a branch of modern medicine. Sections of the faculty, however, see it as anti-science. “It’s against scientific temperament and will put this premier health institute in a poor light,” a senior professor said. The institute has been promoting anti-science activities and now it has decided to legitimise it in the form of a department, the professor added.  …  Dr Rima Dada, AIIMS spokesperson, said the proposal is in a nascent stage. It will take an integrated approach and aid the modern medicine departments. Yoga and Reiki will be part of it. There was, however, no clarity on the faculty who would run the department.  She pointed out that the University of Michigan and Yale School of Medicine already have dedicated courses for spirituality in science. The institute is also planning to introduce spirituality in MBBS, according to sources.

Of late, the dividing line between systems of medicine is getting blurred.

Dual course of MBBS & BAMS, and the JIPMER

The Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research (JIPMER) has formed internal committees to evaluate the proposal, prepared by the Auroville Foundation and announced by Union Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare and AYUSH on May 27 2025, to introduce a over-five-year dual degree course of 'MBBS & BAMS'.  BAMS is related to Ayurveda medicine.  The news went viral, drawing protests from medical doctors (TNIE, 19.09.2025). Is it 'Right or Wrong' to combine two systems of medicine ?

RIGHT or WRONG ?  The WHO has included traditional medicines in the health framework by officially documenting and categorising in ICD-11.  It may be right for Asia, Africa, and other regions where indigenous practices complement the limited availability of the costly modern medicine.  It may be wrong for the 'developed' regions which look for 'evidence-based' efficacy and safety.  It's a matter of varied ground realities and perception, and of course politics.

This newspaper report indicates that a TNTRIC had been treating patients in various hospitals including one of Asia's most renowned hospitals in India.  Will he be the head of the "Department of TANTRIC  MEDICINE in the AIIMS"  !!!

 What Is Reiki?

"Reiki therapy is a way of guiding energy throughout the body to promote the recipient’s self-healing abilities, according to the National Center for Complementary and Integrative Health (NCCIH). The Reiki belief system and that of the practitioner is that they don’t cause the healing, nor are they the source of that healing energy; they’re a channel for the energy — similar to the way a garden hose acts as a channel for water, according to a past review.

“I’m an open channel, and [the Reiki recipient’s] body takes that energy and does whatever it needs with it,” explains Vickie Bodner, a licensed massage therapist and Reiki master at the Center for Integrative Medicine at Cleveland Clinic in Ohio.

The word “Reiki” is a combination of two Japanese words: “rei,” which means “God’s wisdom,” or “the higher power,” and “ki,” which means “life force energy,” according to the International Center for Reiki Training.

“Ki is the life force energy that animates all living things,” says Joan Maute, a licensed Reiki master teacher who practices in Waikoloa, Hawaii, and Charlottesville, Virginia. Put together, and “rei” and “ki” mean “spiritually guided life force energy,” notes the International Center for Reiki Training.

Reiki is taught according to the Japanese tradition of the sensei (teacher), who passes the knowledge to the student through attunement, an initiation ceremony that is thought to help open the student’s energy channels to facilitate the flow of healing energy, and potentially help improve health, according to past research. Once opened, these channels remain accessible to the practitioner for the rest of their life, per the International Center for Reiki Training.

“[Reiki] is a spiritual practice, like meditation is a spiritual practice,” says Pamela Miles, a New York City–based Reiki master and researcher who has collaborated with the medical schools at Harvard and Yale universities to develop Reiki programs there. Reiki, despite its spiritual components and roots, may be and is often used therapeutically (more on this later), including in a secular way.

It’s not a religion and is not associated with religious practice.

Reiki is taught at three levels. First-level practitioners can practice on themselves or others through light touch; second-degree practitioners can practice distance healing; and third-degree or master level practitioners can teach and initiate others into Reiki, according to a literature review."

How Does Reiki, a Form of Energy Healing, Work?

"So, how does Reiki practice work? “The honest answer to that is: We don’t know,” Miles says. “Science does not yet know the mechanism of action.”

There are theories:

One popular theory involves a phenomenon known as the “biofield.” The biofield is an electromagnetic field that permeates and surrounds every living being. In humans, this field extends 15 feet or more from the body, according to Ann L. Baldwin, PhD, a Reiki researcher and professor of physiology at the University of Arizona’s College of Medicine.

The heart, for example, produces an electrical field — measured through an electrocardiogram, or ECG — to regulate heartbeats. The brain also produces an electrical field, though at a lower level than the heart. In fact, all of the body’s cells produce positive and negative electrical charges, which then create magnetic fields, per the aforementioned past literature review.

According to this theory, the interaction between two human magnetic fields may explain the effects of touch therapies like Reiki. It is thought that the biofield is the energetic force that guides bodily functions, and that Reiki energy influences the biofield. “[The biofield] is thought to cause dynamic changes in its vibrational qualities that alter physiological and psychological functions in living beings,” Dr. Baldwin says.

Quantum physics, the study of how the incredibly small particles that make up matter — electrons, neutrons, protons, and photons — behave, and attempts to explain the interactions of energy and physical matter.

Quantum physicists have found that these tiny particles of energy can be in more than one place at one time (both a wave and particle at the same time, depending upon how it is examined, as per the research at the  University of Pittsburgh, and that thought or intention may change how the particles work.

In essence, the Reiki practitioner may be able to gather and direct biofield energy to the recipient through thoughts and intentions.

On its website, the NCCIH notes that there is insufficient scientific evidence at this time to verify the existence of this energy field."

Many of the religious structures (temples, churches, mosques, etc.) were built according to certain guidelines based on the positioning of celestial bodies to harness and channelise cosmic energy into the structures.  Some feel a sensation of vibration when they are inside those structures, perhaps because of the cosmic energy being infused into them.  Some say that they are greatly benefitted by the experience in many ways.

Yes, at this juncture, you are confused – what to believe and what not to.  If you have the time, click on     https://www.thehindu.com/opinion/op-ed/thatcher-chandraswami-and-i/article4595546.ece

and read the very interesting and authentic article about  God-man  Chandraswami.  He seemed to be having some super-human powers.  This is an account of the extraordinary power of the god-man Chandraswami who convinced the “iron lady”, Margaret Thatcher, Briton’s first woman Prime Minister of his occult powers and miraculous predictions.  The article, titled “Thatcher, Chandraswami and I,” written by the former Indian diplomat (Deputy High Commissioner), K. Natwar Singh is published in The Hindu of April 9, 2013.  The god-man sought a meeting with Thatcher through the diplomat which was unusually granted by her.  She said that she can spare only ten minutes.  Later on, with the demonstration of his miraculous powers, she almost begged for more of his time.

Chandraswami was a worshipper of Goddess KALI and acquired so much of 'superhumanpower' that he was a spiritual adviser to  three Prime Ministers of India P. V. Narasimha RaoChandra Shekhar and V. P. Singh. the Sultan of BruneiSheikh Isa bin Salman Al Khalifa of BahrainHosni MubarakYasser ArafatHans-Adam II, Prince of LiechtensteinRichard NixonMargaret Thatcher, actress Elizabeth Taylor, arms dealer Adnan Khashoggi businessmen Tiny Rowland and Mohamed Al-Fayed and crime lord Dawood Ibrahim. He was also charged for illegal activities.

" Sathya Sai Baba's followers have attributed to him a range of miraculous abilities, including the materialisation of Vibhuti (holy ash) and other small objects such as rings, necklaces, and watches. He was also believed to have performed spontaneous healings, resurrections, and exhibited clairvoyant abilities. Additionally, claims were made regarding his ability to be in multiple places simultaneously (bilocation), as well as his omnipresenceomnipotence, and omniscience.[9][10]

Sathya Sai Baba's devotees include members of all religions. In 1972, Sathya Sai Baba founded the Sri Sathya Sai Central Trust.[11] Through this organization, Sathya Sai Baba established a network of free, general,[12] and superspeciality hospitals,[13][14] medical clinics,[15] drinking water projects,[16]educational institutions,[17] ashrams, and auditoriums.[18][19][20][21]

By virtue of his sizeable influence, many feel Sai Baba provides an example of "the phenomenon referred to as mahagurus; that is, gurus with a global reach."[26] Citing the number of Sai Centres (over 2000 in 137 countries),[27]the scope of service and charitable works (free hospitals, drinking water projects), social sphere and influence of devotees (royalty, celebrities, high ranking politicians along with a total number of devotees estimated to be from 6 to 100 million worldwide) as well as being seen as a global "movement extending in some very surprising ways."[26]  "

The subject of interaction between ‘Electrical Fields’, ‘Human Magnetic Fields’, ‘Human Bio-fields’,  ‘Energetic Force’, ‘Cosmic Energy’, Biological Functions, Pathological Manifestations, Therapeutic Benefits, ‘Geo-magnetic Activity’, etc. belongs to a highly complex and ill-understood field.

I presented a paper at the  II Tamil Nadu State Conference on Tuberculosis &  Chest Diseases,  1980  on the subject of  ‘Correlation between Geomagnetic Activity and Haemoptysis’.

It was a study on patients having ‘Haemoptysis (coughing out blood)’ at the ‘Perundurai Sanatorium’ where I worked.  Most of the episodes of haemoptysis occurred at the monthly peak of geo-magnetic activity, dependent upon the position of the MOON and the rise of the TIDE in the sea.  Science can’t convincingly explain certain things, including ‘REIKI.’

It is believed that application of a modified REIKI (OREIKLE -- a synthesis of Reiki and Spiritualism)  conferred astonishing benefits to people, and even to plants.

Plant leaves spark with electricity during thunderstorms — and that could be altering our air quality in unpredictable ways

News

By Harry Baker published 21 October 2022

During thunderstorms, leaves from trees and other plants create mini electric discharges that can significantly alter the surrounding air quality. But researchers are unsure if this is beneficial or harmful.

When lightning flashes above, plants on the ground may respond in kind.

Scientists have long been aware that plants and trees can emit small, visible electric discharges from the tips of their leaves when the plants are trapped beneath the electrical fields generated by thunderstorms high overhead. These discharges, known as coronas, are sometimes visible as faint, blue sparks that glow around charged objects. Now, new research suggests those plant-based sparks may be altering the surrounding air quality in ways never recognized before. But whether the impacts of these mini-shocks in the atmosphere are positive or negative remains unclear.

Science is not very clear about many phenomena, including some which occurred during the COVID pandemic.

Reiki,  faith, and spiritualism may just seem to be hollow concepts and perceptions,  but they just can’t be brushed away as trash.

A doctor-patient was being treated at his home by a team of doctors for persistent severe diarrhoea with fever.  Even after three days, it was unrelenting, and so the plan was to shift the patient to a hospital for intensive care, on the morning of February 14, 2025.  Then, an "OREIKLE"  pronouncement was made that he would recover within 24 hours.  He did !  He was up and around the next morning ! Perhaps, it's just a coincidence.  The medicines given during the previous four days took time to arrest the symptoms only during the last 24 hours.  But the unexpected and dramatic recovery makes the case worthy of documentation.  Overjoyed by the miraculous twist in the case, the doctor-wife of the doctor-patient distributed gifts to the staff at home.

A staff member (a case of infertility) left the job to focus on treatment to bear a child.  While bidding goodbye,  an 'Oreikle' blessing was given.  Soon later, she was pregnant. May be just a coincidence.

HAPPY  PLANT

Compare the size of this leaf against the size of our adult dog.  Did it grow to this size out of a psychological comfort ?  God Only Knows (GOK).

Do the plants and trees require psychological support ?  GOK

When we left a residential quarters in ‘Perundurai Sanatorium’,  a century-old huge BANYAN tree by the side of the house died soon later.  Psychological factor ?  We couldn’t attribute the death to anything else.  GOK.  Psyche and superstition   play a strong role in humans, even in Reiki or even in the following example.

THE  LOST  PARADISE

The long-standing and unique décor, inclusive of plants, on this wall was removed around July 2022.  It was followed by very unpleasant events.  Is there any connection ?  GOK.

The Known  Unknown

Is it really possible that certain things and miracles happened which are not acceptable to the science ?  Science does not accept whatever has no evidence, not repeatable, not logical, and not explainable.

"There are numerous claims throughout history and in modern times of people performing acts—often described as miracles, psychic abilities, or extraordinary feats—that science has not yet fully explained. The unexplained phenomena often fall into categories like anomalies, fraud, psychological effects, or gaps in the current knowledge. .

1. Historical and Religious Miracles

  • Many religions report miracles attributed to saints, prophets, or healers. For example:
    • The Catholic Church has investigated over 10,000 claimed miracles (e.g., healings at Lourdes, France, since 1858). The Lourdes Medical Bureau, comprising doctors (including skeptics), has officially recognized 70 cases as "inexplicable" by medical science as of 2023. These involve sudden recoveries from terminal illnesses like cancer or paralysis, with no known natural cause after rigorous exams, X-rays, and biopsies.
    • Evidence: In 2018, the Church verified the cure of Sister Bernadette Moriau from severe neurological disorders after a 2008 pilgrimage; scans showed irreversible damage vanishing overnight. Critics argue coincidence or misdiagnosis, but no fraud was found.
  • Similar claims appear in Hinduism (e.g., Sai Baba's reported materializations) or Islam (sufi healers). Science can't "disprove" them outright but attributes many to placebo effects or undocumented details.

2. Paranormal Abilities and Psychic Phenomena

  • People like Uri Geller (spoon-bending in the 1970s) or modern "psychics" claim abilities beyond science. Controlled studies (e.g., by the CIA's Stargate Project, declassified in 1995) explored remote viewing—accurately describing distant locations without sensory input.
    • Results: Some trials showed statistically significant hits (e.g., viewer Ingo Swann describing a hidden site with (1970s) accuracy rates above chance). A 2018 meta-analysis in Psychological Bulletin reviewed 30+ years of ESP studies, finding small but consistent effects (odds against chance: 1 in a billion).
    • Unexplained? Quantum entanglement or subconscious cues are hypothesized, but replication fails often due to variables like experimenter bias. Skeptics like James Randi debunked many via tricks (e.g., Geller's feats replicated with magicians' methods).
  • Faith healers like Peter Popoff (1980s) or Brazil's João de Deus claimed cures; investigations revealed earpiece tricks or selective reporting, showing fraud in some cases.

3. Spontaneous Human Feats and Anomalies

  • Spontaneous remission: Cancer vanishing without treatment happens in ~1 in 100,000 cases (per NIH data). E.g., a 2022 case in The Lancet described a man whose tumors disappeared after a fever—linked to immune activation, but the trigger remains mysterious.
  • Superhuman strength in crises: Documented in emergencies (e.g., mothers lifting cars off children). A 1982 study in Annals of Emergency Medicine reported adrenaline surges enabling feats 10x normal strength, explained via physiology but not why it doesn't happen routinely.
  • Stigmata: People like Padre Pio (d. 1968) bled from wounds mimicking Christ's crucifixion. Medical exams found no self-infliction, but psychology suggests psychosomatic causes (mind influencing body), as in biofeedback studies where people control bleeding or pain inexplicably.

4. Scientific Perspective and Explanations

  • What science says: No phenomenon has definitively violated known laws (e.g., conservation of energy). Organizations like the Committee for Skeptical Inquiry (CSI) test claims; their $1M challenge (now via JREF) remains unclaimed for verifiable paranormal acts under controls.
    • Many "miracles" are explained later: Homeopathy's effects via placebo (meta-analyses in BMJ show no benefit beyond water). Hypnosis induces analgesia unexplained fully but tied to brain waves (fMRI studies).
  • Unexplained gaps: Quantum physics (e.g., observer effect) or consciousness (hard problem per philosopher David Chalmers) leave room for mysteries. Neuroscience can't explain near-death experiences fully—patients report vivid visions during clinical death (e.g., Pam Reynolds' 1991 case, aware during brain shutdown).
  • Statistics on claims: Per a 2023 Gallup poll, 41% of Americans believe in psychic healing. But lab tests (e.g., PEAR lab at Princeton, 1979–2007) showed tiny anomalies in random number generators influenced by human intent—statistically real but too small for practical use, possibly artifact.

Conclusion

Yes, there are credible reports of events defying current scientific explanation, supported by medical records, peer-reviewed studies, and investigations. However, "unexplained" doesn't mean "supernatural"—it often means we lack data or tools (e.g., like eclipses were "miracles" pre-Copernicus). True miracles would require defying physics repeatedly under scrutiny, which hasn't happened conclusively. If you're referring to specific people (e.g., yogis surviving without food), most claims crumble under testing, but a few persist as open questions. Science evolves; what seems miraculous today (e.g., antibiotics in 1900) becomes routine tomorrow. For deeper dives, check sources like the Vatican archives or journals like Explore: The Journal of Science and Healing. "

"Now we seem to know the unknown which may or may not be precisely known in future. And, we come back to the drawing board. With the tremendous advancements in science and technology,  we have shed many of the superstitions, beliefs and orthodox thoughts.   But why most of us still pray and hope to escape miraculously ?  That's because of uncertainties and vicissitudes in life.  And because science cannot predict how and when one dies.  And because science  cannot create even a single blade of grass on its own.   So, people continue to be believers,  even in miracles and reiki.  And, they navigate through life with the crutches of the 'supernatural elements' until the day when science can create and control everything."       --     T.
