? First case of AIDS infection in India
Perhaps, I came across the first case of AIDS infection in India in January 1986. The photocopies of the correspondence I had about this case with the Indian Council of Medical Research / Professor T. Jacob John, CMC Hospital, Vellore is pasted below, along with copies of my writings and trascripts of my RADIO TALKS on the subject at that time when the disease was just makiing an appearance in India.
About 40 years later, now in 2025, the "India HIV Estimation 2025 Report" states that over 32,000 people living with HIV (PLHIV) were co-infected with tuberculosis (TB) in 2024 in India which is a significant dual public health challenge to the country. The report was released by the Union Health Minister on December 1, 2025, observed as 'WORLD AIDS DAY'.
